The Channel Tunnel requires a cooling system due to heat generated by the high-speed trains. The large capacity chiller system using non-flammable HCFO-1233zd(E) has reduced energy use by 33% compared to the previous system. A UK-based ferry company has replaced its R-404A catering refrigeration units reducing energy consumption by 40% compared to the replaced units. The new units use the lower GWP HFC/HFO-refrigerant R-449A (GWP 64% lower than that of R-404A).
